A rare stone, consisting of Howlite, Dolomite, and Graphite.

Forms when Howlite settles in layers of Dolomite and Graphite before becoming encased.

First discovered in 1873 in the Lower Tauern mountain range in Australia. At that time it was extensively mined by Germany and the Axis troops for its heavy Manganese content.

Only until the summer of 2018 was it only thought to be found in Australia, when a group of gold miners found the mineral by accident in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada. Radiometric dating estimates that this mineral was formed around 500 million years ago.
